Toby’s Story

Toby was surrendered to GRRoM in November, 2019. No information was available, other than that he was about 3 years old. At his check up, Toby growled at the vet when she tried to examine his hips. X-rays showed that Toby had hip dysplasia in both hips. Since he was young and otherwise healthy, it was determined that a hip replacement, possibly in both hips, would relieve his pain and give him the best chance at a happy life. Toby had surgery to replace his right hip in May. It has been a long and difficult recovery as he needed constant care for the first 2 weeks, followed by 3 months of constant watching and on leash to go outside. Prior to starting physical therapy, the PT felt Toby would benefit from laser treatments and Adequan injections. The hope is that the injections and the therapy may also strengthen his left hip enough that he won't need another surgery. In early August, Toby will have his 3-month post-op checkup at the Animal Surgical Center and will hopefully get permission to be off leash and be able to play with his best buddy, Bo.
