Abby

Birthday: 11/05/2016 - Female Golden Retriever

Status:

Adopted as of 7/24/24!

About:

Abby was surrendered to GRRoM when her owner went into the hospital and was no longer able to care for her. She is a really sweet and kind dog and everyone who meets her agrees.  Abby absolutely loves people.  She is laid back and listens well though she does have selective hearing from time to time. She will roll on her back for belly rubs for as long as you will keep going.  Her ideal home would be with someone who is not gone for long periods of time since she loves being with people so much. Abby knows some basic commands and rides well in car.  She is crate trained but sometimes needs a little coaxing.  A positive reinforcement obedience class is highly recommended and would be a great bonding experience for her and her new family.  Abby has a slight right leg limp from a fracture she sustained when she was a very young pup, but this does not slow her down one bit. She also recently had a mass removed from this leg. She is a little overweight and her foster has been helping her with weight loss. She has lost 5 lbs. already and appears to be limping less.  Abby is an alpha dog. She seems to get along better with laid back male dogs and previously lived with an intact male. Females may be ok too as she picks and chooses which dogs she likes and which ones she doesn't. For this reason, Abby would do best with an experienced family.  Introducing her to other dogs should be done slowly. Interactions with cats is unknown and there is no known history with kids, therefore kids must be at least 10. A physical fence is preferred; but other forms of containment will be considered.  She just wants to be petted and loved and is looking for her forever home.  If you have room in your home and in your heart for a sweetheart of a dog, then come meet Abby.
