Champ is 5 years old, and 100 pounds of golden love!

This handsome boy was diagnosed in May 2024 with sudden onset blindness due to Glaucoma. His original owner surrendered him to GRRoM in June 2024 due to financial hardship and not being able to provide the care needed to support Champ.

As always, our volunteers sprung into action and with just a few hours of notification, he was picked up and brought to his fosters home. This loving, 95 pound boy didn’t just lose his sight, he lost his family.

We quickly followed up with his medical care to alleviate any pain his eye pressures were causing. Although we hoped his condition could be managed, his ophthalmologist considers occular removal his best option. His surgery will cost an estimated $4,200 and will occur on Tuesday, August 20.

Champ is doing a fabulous job adjusting to the layout of his new home. He quickly bonded with his foster family, and wants nothing more than cuddles, love and some good treats. Taking walks remains a favorite activity, and although he can’t chase them anymore, he still loves to hold a tennis ball. Champ has faced many challenges in a very short time, and yet his heart stays Golden strong.
