Rosie’s Story

Some of our adopted Goldens require ongoing medical care which GRRoM committed to providing at time of adoption. Read more about these sweet dogs and consider donating towards their continued care. This is Rosie’s story.

Rosie

Rosie is a 1 year-old golden retriever. Rose was surrendered by her breeder who could not cope with her health problems. They said she was "skinny, had weepy eyes, bad hips, extra baby teeth, and intestinal problems." She needed a liver shunt due to a birth defect that allowed blood to bypass her liver so toxins aren’t removed like they should be. It looks like she is going to need a very tricky surgery soon because her condition is serious. Her foster family says that she is sweet as can be, she listens well, and travels like a champ. She plays with other dogs well and is a fast learner. But these past few months have also been quite a challenge. Rosie's hips were checked and found that she is missing a hip socket on her right side. She get adjustments with Dr. Kern and physical therapy at home while they work on her other problems. This is really helping her discomfort and she is getting stronger.
Rosie is thriving today because of the ongoing, extensive medical care she receives. Frequent blood work is required to monitor her blood levels and she is on multiple medications and supplements to support her liver condition. In addition, Rosie has a chronic eye condition that requires ongoing care. While Rosie’s family pays for expensive prescription food, maintenance drugs and her general care, GRRoM continues to pay for Rosie’s chronic medical conditions and the cost is high.
Donations or sponsorship for Rosie’s ongoing care would be deeply appreciated.
