Sophie Turns 14!
Miss Sophie turned 14 on Saturday, July 13th!
Sophie came to GRRoM when her family felt they could no longer give her the life she deserved. Sophie is indeed now living her life to its fullest. After spending her birthday romping in the backyard with her favorite companions, Alan and Apple (also GRRoM rescues), she took a well deserved nap.
Sophie came to GRRoM at 12 years of age in August 2023. Within a few days, she was given a permanent foster home. Sophie received a thorough vet check and given medication to meet her needs. GRRoM paid for all of her veterinary care and medications. One year later, a routine vet check revealed Sophie was suffering from anemia, likely caused by pre-existing rectal mass that was bleeding. After consulting with the vet, it was decided that Sophie would have the growth removed as well as badly needed dental work. Again, GRRoM paid for all of Sophie’s veterinary care. She not only recovered from the surgery, but thrived.
Fast forward to July 2024. Sophie was still playful, bubbly and social but her foster parents noticed she had foul breath. A vet appointment was scheduled in which the vet discovered two abscessed teeth and a growth, possibly cancerous.
Once again, GRRoM funded the surgery, biopsy and all of Sophie’s medication. All of the volunteers that make GRRoM function as a well oiled machine eagerly await Miss Sophies’s results.
